Louisiana State Statute on Concealed Carry Permits.

Louisiana Revised Statute § 40:1379.3 governs statewide concealed handgun permits, setting out how they are issued and what qualifications applicants must meet: the Department of Public Safety and Corrections must issue a permit to qualified individuals that allows them to carry a concealed handgun and keeps application information confidential; applicants must meet background, age, training, and legal eligibility requirements, and failure to meet them can result in denial or revocation. The law also specifies locations where concealed weapons are not allowed (such as schools, courts, government buildings, and places where firearms are otherwise prohibited, and places of worship unless authorized by the person in charge), outlines duties and restrictions for permit holders (such as not carrying while under the influence and notifying police officers during stops), provides procedures for background checks and permit validity, addresses out‑of‑state permits and reciprocity, allows for lifetime permits with ongoing training requirements, and includes penalties for violations.
